The Chew needs to be canceled

In Blog on February 8, 2012 at 12:35 pm

I know everyone has a right to earn a living, but I just can’t stomach watching The Chew any longer. Ever since it debuted on ABC (and Citytv in Canada), replacing long-running soap opera All My Children, it has been the butt of countless jokes and been panned by critics. Because of my love for food and that I find Mario Batali somewhat entertaining, I tried watching it again but turned off after only a few minutes. Bottom line: it’s an awful show.

The name alone — possibly the worst name for a show in the history of television — is enough to put me off, but couple that with the fact that The Chew is nothing more than a rip-off of The View (which is painful enough to have to sit through should you be trapped in a dentist’s waiting room) and you’ve got a show that is a complete waste of time. Besides, if you’re looking for a View rip-off, look no further than The Talk — the second worst show on daytime TV right now.

Problem is money. It costs ABC far less to produce The Chew than it did for soap operas, so if they (mercifully) axe the “talk show/cooking show”, what will they replace it with?

About these ads
  1. I find it gross the way they have these dumb games and stupid comments on The Chew. The food recipes aren’t that good plus many look to be very fattening. When everyone talks at the sametime it makes a show look unorganized.

I hope The Chew goes but it’s so cheap to produce that this might take awhile.

One day I watched The Chew for 10 minutes but couldn’t tolerate it.ABC needs to rethink their mistake and ,maybe bring back All My Children.

    Great article!

  2. I hope all the companies advertizing their products on these horrible shows know that they are wasting their money as no one is watching. How many times do they need to bang their heads into a wall to see that daytime sucks without our soaps.
