“When I started my professional career, I never imagined I would be where I am today. I’ve come a long way from being an 8-year old playing “restaurant” in my basement with my friends. Having studied journalism and radio broadcasting, and having worked in the very competitive industry for many years, I decided to finally follow my true passion to become a chef — and I haven’t looked back since.”
The specialty and philosophy are simple: keep it authentic and keep it real. Whenever possible, use fresh and local ingredients. Don’t allow yourself to be held back in the kitchen or in life. Trust in your skills: make the meals that you enjoy and you know others will too. Basically put, be yourself and be proud of it. Those are the fundamental basics and outlook of classically trained chef and TV personality Chef Christopher aka The FoodFella.
After a rewarding career in journalism, Chef Christopher decided to make the change and follow his life-long passion. He enrolled at the prestigious George Brown College Chef School in Toronto and followed his dream. He has been fortunate enough to have learned from some of the best chefs in the city and cooked in some of the hottest kitchens (both figuratively and literally) and to have spent time in Italy – going back to basics, traditions and authenticity – all to come away with a continued appreciation for what it takes to make a truly memorable meal.
He has since gone on to share his passion through social media as well as appearing on popular morning shows such as Breakfast Television and Rogers TV Daytime always sporting one of his many hockey jerseys and pairs of Converse high-tops – a look that has become somewhat synonymous with an easy-going attitude when it comes to classic cooking.
You won’t find him on some scripted reality show or a fake TV cooking competition. Likewise there’s no food truck or a restaurant in a fancy Las Vegas casino. Where you will find Chef Christopher is in his kitchen doing something that he loves: cooking. Making his own rules, doing his own thing and offering anyone who wants it, a seat at the chef’s table.
